Micro-Care® Fabric
Problem:
The number of allergy sufferers has considerably increased in the
past years. Reasons for this can be found in micro-organisms, like fungi,
bacteria, spores and dust mites, existing in our environment. According to
science these reasons are, above all, the main causes for allergies and a number
of other vital diseases.
The probability to fall ill with an allergy increases when a
person is exposed more to allergy causing substances. According to personal
habits, people sleep between five and eight hours a day. This means that, for
the most part, there is no other place where one spends as much time as in bed.
For this reason allergy causing substances in bed rooms are especially serious
for people because of the long exposure time.
The situation still is aggravated because everybody secretes in
one night up to 500 ml sweat, which is absorbed partially by the sheet and
partially by the mattress. Furthermore every person loses several milligrams of
dandruff and hair within a week. In combination with sweat, this creates an
ideal breeding ground for a number of organisms.
Dust mites create a special problem. The excretion of these
spider like creatures are feared as they cause allergies. Dust mites live in a
number of home textiles such as furniture, carpet, curtains, etc. However, the
close exposure time to these products is not very long therefore the danger
remains low. In bedrooms the situation is different because of the temperature
and the constant supply of food (dandruff, hair, etc.), the mattress forms ideal
living conditions for dust mites.
Chemical finishing's with toxic substances are other possibilities
to avoid the growth of micro organisms. Often these procedures bear the risk of
additional allergens and further human ecological risky substances.
Additionally the effect diminishes quickly and is not washable.
Solution:
Micro-Care® fabric addresses all the problems listed
above. The fabric utilizes three layers of material. A cotton top layer is
provided to absorb moisture. The second layer of nylon holds the moisture and
removes it from the top cotton layer. The third, lower layer prevents the
moisture from going into the mattress. When a person gets up in the morning,
the moisture trapped in the second layer is wicked away by the cotton layer.
Evaporation from the cotton layer completely eliminates moisture from the
fabric. The third layer also includes a anti-micro-bacterial additive. This
provides a series of features; it offers an extensive protection against a wide
range of fungi and bacteria, reduction of dust mites reproduction, washable at
140 degrees Fahrenheit, no use of toxic or dangerous substances, and no
impregnation of chemicals. The additive is fixed in the fiber, therefore the
effect will not be significantly reduced by several washing, thus it is almost
permanent.
